Some background...

For as long as I have lived in Mt Holly, I have watched the housing market. Starting earlier this year we started really monitoring and evaluating the house listings. We drove by and looked at countless houses. We viewed houses. All were not the right location, not the right house and/or not the right price.
Then we saw they had re-started building in this neighborhood. The right location, the right house, the right price. It's only 2 miles from our rental. But more than double the square footage, land and a garage!

This led us to their sales office at another neighborhood where we met with the sales reps & gathered a ton of info and I got to work studying. We got to information digging and even went to yet another neighborhood of theirs to walk through several houses that were under construction.

Next came the lot reservation. I researched, checked topography, easements, neighbors, cost of taxes, size of lot, orientation of the sun, everything except Feng shui. We picked out a lot and put a hold on it. Our very own special pile of muddy grass and some trees in the back.

While we were waiting for the builder to release the lot, we did more research. Went back out to the neighborhoods picked the house plan that works for us and talked about the options.

Then we got the call that it was GO time. Time to pick out all the options, all the colors and options
decisions.

Thankfully since we had gone to the models and looked already, we were able to pick some options pretty easy. Some other options were a tad harder to choose. Ultimately I'm thrilled that we will have something totally ours. It's not just because of the big kitchen and the craft room. (although that is contributing to my grinning)

After the reading and signing of over 40 pages of documents in mid-August, I started watching the "progress" on that pile of grassy mud that is supposed to magically become something like this "representative" house!

I have the vision. I'm "nervous-cited" because I want construction to be moving along and done quickly, but at the same time, I want time to purge and pack and prepare! I'm sure it'll be an adventure for the next 4-6 months! Being a "construction brat" I know the process and I will be checking on it constantly. It'll be exciting to watch the progress and see the house come to life.

More importantly it will be our HOME for the years to come. Where we will make memories. Where we will take prom pictures of Emily. Where I get to watch the flowers, plants and trees that Jerod will plant, grow with us over time. Where I'll get to set up a real sewing/crafting space for the first time ever.  Where I'm sure there will be tears of joy and tears of angst, mixed with happy times and sad times. Where LIFE will happen.

That's a lot of "feels' for a .47 acres of dirt.

Bring it on....
